Medical Alert Assistance Dogs are trained to help people with life-threatening health conditions, giving them greater peace of mind and above all saving their lives on a daily basis. The dogs are taught to identify the odour changes that are associated with life-threatening medical events and to alert the individual or their carer to an impending crisis. Joan illustrated her fascinating talk with some personal stories and examples of where Medical Detection Dogs had undoubtable saved a life. You can read more about the work of this this remarkable charity on their web site at medicaldetectiondogs.org.uk/index.html
