Freeland WI enjoyed a fun Christmas party with delicious food provided by the members, games organised by Rosie Smith and Liz Warby and we sharpened our wits on a Chocolate Quiz organised by Rosie James. We invited guests from Witney, Eynsham, North Leigh and Long Hanborough. I think there may be a few of us who wished our chocolate knowledge was not so extensive after the excesses of Christmas. We started the new year with a great meeting in which we learnt from Jane Dyson of Star Cakes in Long Hanborough how to make sugar paste spring flowers. We all went home with a little plaque containing a daffodil, primrose and violet very proud of what we had managed to achieve in just a one hour lesson. We hope to use our new found skills to decorate Easter cakes for our Easter Market which we hope will be a village event and takes place on March 20th. We are delighted that we are still attracting new members and look forward to a successful 2016 with a mixed programme of events which we hope will be of interest to many women in the village. Our next Meeting is on February 8th when we plan a craft evening to make Easter egg baskets both from card or knitted, bunting, Easter chicks and other Easter decorations. Even if craft is not your thing there will be something for everyone to get involved with.
