Freeland WI celbrates our first year
Freeland WI celebrated its first year with the AGM and a Bring and Share supper. The event was attended by Pauline Goddard, the Chair of the Oxfordshire Federation of Women's Institutes, and Carol Bower from Long Hanborough WI. The existing committee were all prepared to stand for another year and Lorraine Pengilley will continue as President. As it is the centenary of the WI there are many events planned both locally and nationally to celebrate this occassion. Liz Warby was chosen from the draw to take the Centneary Baton from Preeland WI to Long Hanborough WI in a vintage car. This event takes place on April 17th at 1.15pm so please come to the village hall to witness the occassion. Marilyn Trigg was chosen from the dra to represent Freeland WI at the Royal Garden Party on June 2nd at Buckinghma Palace. Our next meeting is on MOnday 13th April when Bill Heine, a broadcaster from Radio Oxford, will talk about the book he has written on his experiences trying to get planning permossion to have a model of a shark on the roof of his house in Headington.
