Beading not Hair Styling!

We were disappointed that our planned speaker from Philosophy Hair in Witney was unable to attend our January meeting due to him participating in a hairdressing competition in London. We were able to bring our contingency plan into operation and Lesley Jenkins and Lorraine Pengilley raided their stash of beads to make necklaces and memory wire bracelets with the members who attended. Everyone went home wearing something they had made, some even made two necklaces and some felt inspired to do more.

Our next meeting on February 9th will be a speaker on Forensic Science from Aldermarston. The title is ‘What is Forensic Science’ and covers the work carried out in the forensic biology team examining casework exhibits for body fluids, submitting samples for DNA profiling tests, and the interpretation of the DNA results. It also covers the transfer of DNA and some details around attending court. The speaker comes highly recommended by other WI groups. This is the centenary year of WI and there are lots of celebrations planned for the area which Freeland WI will be participating in.
